Job Description
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at Minnesota State University, Mankato,
is searching for a person for a one-year sabbatical replacement teaching
position in Astronomy. The successful candidate will teach a variety of
Astronomy courses, from the introductory to the advanced undergraduate level.
The standard teaching load is 12 load-hours (three or four courses) per
semester. This includes courses that use our campus Observatories. The
successful candidate will have the departmental responsibilities of a regular
faculty member, including mentoring students and participating in departmental
committees.
The start date is 19 August 2024.
Review of application will begin on 15 May 2024, and continue until the
position is filled.
Required Qualifications:
At least a Masters Degree in Astronomy/Astrophysics or a related area (PhD
preferred). An official transcript, showing this will be required by the
date of hire.
Interest and ability to teach Astronomy/Astrophysics at all undergraduate
levels.
Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to
this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.
